Alexis explains: "a lot of what I do is I make people more approachable for the criminal justice system when you're a district attorney you have a lot of cases you have very little time to work on things but as a defense attorney I actually am able to sit down talk with you I answer your call whenever it comes in I work with you and a lot of my clients and I are friends long after I represent them"

Alexis explains: "do you even need to hire a criminal defense attorney so I get that question a lot and the best way that I can answer it is by giving another example A lot of people don't have familiarity with the criminal justice system or with hiring a lawyer so it's helpful to look at it in terms of what people do know everyone has had an experience when they were sick or had some relative that was sick or had some severe injury and they know okay I need to go to the hospital I need to go see a doctor everyone can relate to that"

Alexis explains: "I worked in Arapahoe County, public county and here in El Paso County but I made the decision to come and be a defense attorney for a number of reasons one of which was as a district attorney I saw so many people who I couldn't help the way that I wanted to help them what I mean is that I think oftentimes the district attorneys while they're very good attorneys and they're trained to do their jobs they're also trained to see people who come in as criminal defendants and what I really like about my job is that my job is to get to know you as a person and as a human being and then convey that person that I know to the justice system to the judge to the district attorney and let them know hey this is just a normal person who had a bad day this is just someone who screwed up one time but it doesn't mean that they are a screw-up"

Alexis explains: "my job is really to act as a mediator between the criminal justice system and you it's to help you get through your case"

Alexis explains: "what I like to do is I like to take the fear out of things I like to take the fear out of what the DA is trying to put my clients through I like to take the fear out of what my clients are going through and just lay it out for them my job is really to act as a mediator between the criminal justice system and you it's to help you get through your case"
