Alexis explains: "discovery is just a very general term that encompasses any evidence that the state or the prosecutor is using against you so often what we see in criminal charges is the discovery will have all the police reports it will have all of the body-worn camera evidence it will have witness statements it will have their surveillance video or 9-1-1 calls or any kind of video of the event that's what discovery is the state is required to give your defense attorney absolutely everything that they have against you so that we can prepare a proper defense to whatever they have"

Alexis explains: "the reason is this even if you're completely innocent of the charges that doesn't necessarily mean that another person isn't saying something untrue about you and police are people too they have no way of knowing what person a is saying is true or not and what you are saying is true or not so they have to take all of the evidence that they hear evidencing statements made by other people and they have to determine what they think happened"
