While driving on I25 in the northern outskirts of Colorado Springs, a particularly dark and unilluminated stretch of highway between exits 151 and 153, I was struck from behind by a driver with no lights on as I made a lane change (following all safety protocols). The collision was severe but I managed to safely pull to shoulder despite a blown out rear tire. Two State Troopers as well as other vehicles promptly arrived at the scene. One trooper took my statement then went away to the other vehicle for about 15 minutes. When he returned he handed me a ticket for an "unsafe lane change". No questions did he ask me: What did you see?, Did the other vehicle honk? or use bright lights? etc. No investigation, No Due Process! The insidious nature of the event left me in the position "I say, they say" with the Sate of Colorado on their side. This despite no eyewitnesses or clear and convincing evidence that would single out, out of a multitude of configurations, the one that handed me the infraction. From my first pleasant contacts with the Right Law Group I immediately began to experience an abatement of my anxiety and distress. Counsel was Absolutely Essential in guiding toward a rational defense that would be consonant with Court standards, procedures, protocols etc.: To create a reasonable doubt that the trooper's allegation was credible. Counsel met with the State Trooper and obtained his reasoning for the infraction (dubious reasons). Counsel accompanied me to the accident scene in snow flurries to photograph the darkness mentioned in my statements to all interested parties, after I arrived in CS for the third and final court hearing. COUNSEL WENT THE EXTRA MILE FOR ME. Counsel's final presentation, which he went over with me outside the court room, had unfolded like a beautiful mathematical theorem. I was delighted! (no matter what the outcome might have been) However the State Trooper failed to appear (I suspect for good reason) and the CASE WAS DISMISSED!
